Here is more information:
Date: 29 October
Time: 11am-6pm (start cleaning at 5.45pm, seriously, who the hell have a bbq so early?)
Place: Seletaris (In Sembawang but can reach there from Yishun interchange.)
To reach there: Easiest way: Wait for my bus next to the taxi stand outside of Yishun MRT Station.
Time slots are 11.45am, 12.15pm, 12.5pm, half an hour interval between each slot until 2.45pm.(The time is when it's LEAVING! not coming)
Take 856 and 859 from Yishun Bus Interchange. Press the bell right after you see my condo or the big drain.
If you wanna exercise, ask David to bring you there for he might be walking.
Payment: $1 for entrance fee(Which well go into my pocket.)
No entrance fee no going into my house. >: )

Hey people! =DD

Let's organize a chalet after our EOYs! So we need to form a plannng committee to organize it. Trust me, planning a chalet isn't as easy as you think. Alot of factors that needs to consider like financial, safety, welfare, etc. So I will need a few in charge:

Camp Chief:
Assistant Camp Chief:
Secretariat I/Cs: SuQi, Christabel,
Finance I/Cs: perhaps treasurers?
First Aide I/Cs: Darius (water activities), perhaps NCDCC cadets?
Welfare I/Cs: ???, perhaps welfare i/c?
Logistics I/Cs: Joey, Jiamin
Operations I/Cs: Tan Long, Darius,

For the I/Cs, there can be more than 1.

So any volunteers? So far we have:

Read on to know what are the jobscope of the above positions:

Camp Chiefs are overall I/C of the camp. He/She must shoulder the most responsibility.

Secretariat I/Cs are in charge of all administrative work of the chalet, which includes making out the 5 charts, and taking note of paperwork such as the Next-Of-Kin list.

Financial I/Cs are in charge of calculating the total budget and collecting money from others. During the actual camp, the financial I/C must prepare emergency cash.

First Aide I/Cs are to make sure they observe safety regulations. At least 1 First Aide must be on standby at command post (read on) and one more at the activity station.

Welfare I/Cs are in charge of campers basic neccessities such as food, barbeque, etc. Welfare I/C must also make sure every camper observe basic safety procedures.

Logistics I/Cs are in charge of the mode of transportation to and from the location. They are also in charge of every equipment needed during the camp. Logistics I/Cs must also hold the keys to the chalets.

Operations I/Cs are in charge of the itenary and the activities of the day. Ops must work with Welfare and Logs before planning the activities.

The planning committee must also be assigned to do the following two duties along with their own jobscope.

Sentry duty is to keep watch of the campers while they are asleep to prevent any mishaps. It is done in 2 pairs, females and males. Only 2 hours per pair.

Command Post duty is when two or more of the commitee members will take care of the chalet and the belongings of the campers, to prevent from any theft or mishap. If anyone is feeling unwell, he/she must be directed to the command post, where the First Aide will come to his aid.

So tag or inform Firdaus to inform him you're interested and to inform him the position that you want. =)

OMG I just realised the new format for BLOGGER. HAHA ok I'm slow.

Anyway, COMMON TESTS ARE OVER!

Which is like freaking fast. In like 6 and half weeks, we'd be facing out EOY exams already and before we realised, we're separated and going to have new classmates next year. AND OF COURSE, WE'LL HAVE JUNIORS.

It's really shocking on how time flies. I still can remember orientation where we first came and didn't know anyone at all. Then slowly, we made friends. Slowly, relationship got closer.

It's really been a great experience being in this class. Next year, most of us will be split. ie. me. Lol.

I'am really gonna miss 1D. =(

Supporting Cons from 1 Devotion

It's been an emotional day for Uniformed Groups cadets as batons were passed and berets were tossed. The Passing Out Parade marks the end of the cadet's journey as a leader to their units. Graduating cadets have grown in character and leadership. This is what I've learnt by witnessing this significant event.

What makes a leader?
Like what is mentioned in our school ethos, before a leader can lead, he must serve. Therefore servant comes before leader. What makes a leader? There is 7 values that a leader must have before he is able to lead well.

Will
The leader must be willing in everything he do. Service is not valuable. There is no price to service. Service must come from one's heart. Service is a choice, not an obligation.

Selflessness
A good leader is selfless. He often puts others before himself. He sacrifices his time and effort for his followers. A leader does not use his powers for his own gain.

Humility
A leader is humble. He does not boast his rank or position in order for people to follow him. One need not have ranks or positions to be leader. Your leadership shows your rank, not your rank shows your leadership.

Prudence
A leader must have prudence in order to lead. Prudence means responsibility to decide. He must be wise to think of what is right and what is wrong. But mistakes are commonly made. As the saying goes, to err is human.

Trust
A leader must both be trustworthy and able to trust others. A leader has to trust his teammates and not doubt them, for doubt is the first step to conflict. A leader has to be trustworthy and able to be depended on. He must prove that he can lead.

Discipline
A leader must be disciplined and must lead his own life before he can lead others. He has to know what is right and what is wrong. When discipline comes, trust will be there.

Perseverance
A leader must persevere through every challenge and obstacle in life. He must be ready for any form of obstacle. Servant-leadership is not shor-term. It is a long-term thing. One cannot back out as a leader halfway.

I hope by this post, you people would learn what is a leader so everyone of us can be a leader. Especially the pioneers from NCDCC. You guys are leaders from the start as the future of NCDCC depends on your leadership. Not just that, for other leaders too, this apply to you.

As a member of a CCA which is a hybrid of UG and Performing Arts, I witnessed the vast difference between both CCA groups. But there is one common thing; a leader must rise up to the occasion in order for the whole unit to succeed. =)

OK i'm posting for the first time and its about the weird parts of the drama in the Arise Shine Concert.

1.one part fanny forgot what she is suppose to say and stuttered.
2.the door is left open to let random people walk in and out.
3.grandmother(malay),mother(malay),young daughter(chinese?!),teacher fanny(chinese),going die fanny(malay) -.- never even talk about father.
4.She is said to forget things easily and forgot if Sophie had came few minutes ago but she can remember the name of that guy who met her last time and able to remember so much of her childhood.
5.If the teacher was blind they could just leave secretly or maybe don't come at all.
6.This is the worst part.THEY DID NOT NOTICE THAT FANNY WAS DEAD SINCE Sophie LEFT!!!
7.I thought Sophie and Fanny were about the same age when they were young,how come only Fanny became like a old grandma while Sophie remained quite young.

Hey guys,

I've really got nothing better to do, so I decided to do two major things:

1. Create and embed a class radio.
2. Revamp class blog it will look new.

For the first one, the radio has passed most of its technical test and I will improvise it along the way. It was on a 3-days trial before I publicize it here on the class blog.

For those of you who have not experienced the radio yet, tune in at night from 9-11 for the Firry show =D

Technical faults aside, I need people to broadcast music/deejay. If you're interested, I will mass brief all of you. I will also be needing a Radio Programming Manager to oversee all the deejays.

Requirements for Deejay/Broadcaster;
- Able to speak well (for deejays with microphones)
- Have a large variety of music in .MP3 format.
- Able to comprehend IT language.
- Good internet connection speed.

Rules for Deejay/Broadcaster;
- No flaming on air.
- No profanities in songs, please.
- Do not hog the system. Let others take over after you have deejayed for awhile.

Requirements for Radio Programming Manager;
- Able to direct and lead the team.
- Able to tune in to the shows most of the time.
- Able to solve conflicts of clash of deejay shows.
- Able to communicate with the deejays well.

The reason why I resurrected the class blog is because of sentimental purposes.

Although there had been a war that broke out yesterday, today shall be a new day. The old posts of the tagboard is deleted. I don't want to continue this childish war. There is too much at stake.

And I'm motivated by Christabel's and Jiamin's spirit. They have taught me to stay strong and fight for what I think is right. Why should I dampen my own mood just to fight with you?

Since the MidYears exams are very near. I shall recollect on what Mrs Carolin Tan has mentioned for 5 weeks in Term 1. You reap what you sow.

"Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." -- Galatians 6:7-9

You reap what you sow.
How much you reap is how much you sow.
What you reap is what you sow.
Where you reap is where you sow.
Why you reap is why you sow.

If you plant strawberries, you won't have watermelons in return. You will have strawberries. So if we revise in History ONLY, we won't be good in Math. So we have to divide and conquer and revise EVERY subject.

If you plant 10yards of strawberries, you won't get 100yards of strawberries. You will get 10yards of strawberries. If we revise a small amount, we shouldn't expect that we know a big amount. So we have to revise entirely.

If you reap to get fresh strawberries, in God's will, you will. So if you aim super high, you will get super high! =D

If you plant 1 strawberry bush, you can't expect to get so much strawberry. Because how much you reap is how much you sow. Study ALOT, and in the end, you will GAIN ALOT.

I know that some of you say that you don't have time to study all 7 subjects. Like what Evelyn said, you won't have time if you never find time. =) I think that that's a wise line. And like what TeckHwee said, You won't gain something until you lose something. In this world, there's no GAIN GAIN GAIN GAIN and there's no LOSE LOSE LOSE LOSE. It's usually GAIN LOSE GAIN LOSE. That's the way of life. =)

Hi, 1 Devotion, I've heard your pleas.

I might consider to have a class chalet, but I need 75% of the class to agree to pay $20. Chalet isn't cheap. We need to book 2 chalets. 1 for guys, 1 for girls.

But again, 75% of the class must agree. 75 x 100% ~ 30. So if any one of you can get 30 people to agree, we will have the chalet.

Reason? First of all, 1Endurance has disagreed.

Yep. You will ask that maybe we can just have our own chalet. Until I think the class is ready and until someone convinces me that this chalet will have benefits, then we will organize one. The reason why I wanted to merge with 1Endurance is because I want us to follow their footsteps on being bonded as a class, being what a class is. In our class, I don't see that yet.

So I'll be waiting for volunteers to convince me that you guys WANT a chalet. I don't want to force anything here. So if you want a chalet, and is willing to help, come to me and tell me.

It's never easy to please you people. I agree 100% with Vivien that you guys are over-demanding. It's not very easy to be the leaders. If you think it's easy, why not you try. We, the ExCo, will be happy to step down and see how you handle the class.

There is something called COURTESY. I realise the lack of courtesy and graciousness given by you people. No matter who's talking, be it the principal, vice principal, pastors, form teacher, subject teachers, chairperson, class exco, or ANY students, it is BASIC COURTESY to sit there and give your attention. If you don't want to listen, fine. AT LEAST give your courtesy to the others who WANT to listen. ALL announcements are important.

Don't you guys think that if we put "1Devotion" , other classes are also putting their OWN class name ! But you see , "OneDee" is CREATIVE ! Don't you guys have CREATIVITY ?! Anyway, the ExCo are discussing further about ClassTee. Because ALOT of you are complaining it's too expensive. We're trying our best to get GOOD quality and GOOD price. But ClassTee is made compulsory because it represents that we're united and we're bonded as a class. You guys probably won't know how it feels like. 1Endurance already bragging about their class unity and how bonded their class is. I felt embarrassed as a part of the class, and as a chairperson. It only shows that I have failed to be a good chairperson and I have failed to uphold the chairperson's pledge.

I know some of your reaction will be, "SO? I DON'T CARE." I understand. You don't care about your class? You don't care about being in 1Devotion? Yea, it's really not easy to lead a class with people like this. Don't you practice what you preach?

A Tribute To Rabindra Clinton Willford

Rabindra Clinton Willford has joined us since the first day of camp and has been a part of us since Day 1 up to JJ Fair. Now he's leaving us on the 16 March 2008.

His dirty jokes and funny antics will be remembered by 1 Devotion 08. As a tribute, the ExCo would like to place him as an Honourary Member of the the Executive Committee. He will be allowed access to the class blog and will be posting from the United States of America. =D

Anyway, his leaving time will be confirmed. We might be going to send him off. Prepare to bring alot of tissues. xD

JJ Fair was a great success. =D
We reaped what we sowed. So now we should rejoice.

I hope you guys are enjoying this few days of holiday. It is a time to relax after one long day at JJ Fair. I would like to thank EVERYONE for their help rendered (or not). Especially JIA MIN, WINNIE, VIVIEN, MOSES, DAVID, EVELYN, ABIGAIL, LIXIN, and THE REST =D We did a great job! I promise the whole class we'll have a class chalet during the June holidays okay. =)

But I would like to bring up some matters which has come to my attention.

This matter regards the safety of our people and the safety of the public. Our game stall was meant to be throwing at cans NOT ~~throw at us~~. Some of you might think of the line, "No Pain, No Gain". But throwing tennis balls at us has nothing to do with the games proposed to higher authorities. I know you say that I may be a wet blanket but rules MUST be followed. What if the ball would have hit your face and you injure yourself? Who'll be worried? Who'll get into trouble? Mind you, you won't be the worrying and you won't be the one who's going to be questioned. It's going to be the rest of the class. The chairperson. The Games ICs. The Shift Colleagues. All of them will be worried and will be question if anything major would happen. Thank God nothing happened.

But what if something did? You might think that nothing will happen. But must you wait for something to happened then regret after that? It might seem fun, but is fun worth it once you lost one of your eye? No. Who will feel guilty if you do so? Everyone else.

We are lucky that the school authorities wasn't walking around to inspect the games. If they were, you wouldn't know what troubled you brought EVERYONE to.

So you should do a reflect of yourself. All of you. Ask yourself if you have behaved appropriately. I am telling you all this not to pin you down, but to show you your mistakes and to come to your attention of the consequences.

Those who knows about this incident, keep it mum.
Those who doesn't, stay that way.
I do not want this incident to be repeated again. And I will not bear any more grudges after this post. There is no use to cry over spilled milk.

I emphasize again, NO ONE is to tell others about this incident.

Blitz Aftermath

Hello guys,

This is your chairperson speaking. Most of you think BLITZ was unsuccessful, but every effort is a success. It was a great communication practice for most of us.

Based on statistics, our class sold an estimated amount of $300.00 with only 26 pupils. Next Saturday, I think there'll be another BLITZ. Imagine if we had FULL ATTENDANCE on that day. That will roughly be around $600.00 which will be enough to at least seize second position in school. As of 15 February, we have a total of $3300.00. I think with today's effort we have seized second position in Secondary 1.

I hope you guys won't be discouraged. =D You must be very thick-skinned. And you must put on an act. And I think most of you don't know that we accept donations of any amount as we will be bring in pupils from various special schools, eg. Chao Yang School.

So we must continue to ADD OIL and make sure we seize the FIRST POSITION in the school, yeh?

WE ARE, AFTERALL, 1 DEVOTION!

If you have been observant enough, 1 Devotion won a total of $15 Popular voucher from Lantern Making and Hamper Making. To celebrate our success, we will use this $15 voucher and a sum from our class fund to buy something for everyone in the class. This is to thank all of you for helping out one way or another.

HomeEc/D&T: Pass - 100% Distinction - 40%
Mother Tongue: Pass - 85% Distinction - 45%

Arts: Pass - 95% Distinction - 45%

Preferred Grade: A1 and A2
Average Grade: A2 and B3

This is based on my views and we have to aim for the stars! English is compulsory to pass. If we fail, we won't be allowed to get promoted to Sec 2. Same goes for Higher MT. Let's all work together to STRIVE. =D
